Manchester United announce £60m double signing of De Ligt, Mazraoui from Bayern Munich

Manchester United have announced a £60 million double signing, bringing in Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

The duo, who have both signed long-term contracts, arrived in the UK on Monday to finalize their transfers.

De Ligt, 25, is the most expensive of the two, with United paying around £45 million for the Dutch center-back.

He becomes the club’s third summer signing, following the arrivals of Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee.

De Ligt expressed excitement reuniting with manager Erik ten Hag, who played a vital role in his early career at Ajax.

“Erik ten Hag knows how to get the best out of me, and I can’t wait to work with him again,” said De Ligt. “I’m excited about the new challenge and determined to succeed at this historic club.”

Mazraoui, 26, who will replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka following his move to West Ham, was signed for £15 million.

The Moroccan right-back is eager to make his mark at Old Trafford. “It’s an incredible feeling to be a Manchester United player.

“Everyone here shares the ambition to win trophies, and I’m determined to contribute to that goal,” said Mazraoui.

Both players have signed contracts that include options for extensions; De Ligt’s until June 2029 and Mazraoui’s until June 2028.

The former Ajax teammates are expected to make their debuts when United face Fulham at Old Trafford on Friday night.
