Man kills elder brother over shirt and trouser in Kano

Halifa Hamza, a 20-year-old man stabs his elder brother, Usman Hamza, to death with a pair of scissors in Kano State.

According to reports, the incident happened on Sunday, April 2, 2023, after an argument erupted between the brothers.

In an interview with Freedom Radio, their father, Alhaji Hamza, said it was not true that they fought because of a cat, but that it was as a result of the younger brother wearing the shirt and trousers of his elder brother.

“The elder brother that was killed (Usman) collected my motorcycle to go and inform his friends that we had organised Iftar for people so that they could come and eat,” 

“When he came back, he saw his younger brother with his shirt and trousers. He then asked why he did that, and from there a fight started. The younger one entered the house and brought a pair of scissors and stabbed the older brother on his chest and he died there.”

Halifa’s friend, who pleaded anonymity, said immediately after the incident happened, he left the house and ran away.

Spokesman of the state police command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust on Wednesday, said an investigation was ongoing.
