Man flees Cross River after theft scandal, steals phones in Lagos church

A Nigerian man who fled Cross River State after being caught stealing has been apprehended again for stealing two phones from a church in Lagos.
He attempted to have them flashed and sold at a computer center but was exposed by the operator.
The incident was captured in a viral TikTok post, where the young man was given the opportunity to explain himself.
In his confession, he admitted to stealing the phones from a church and taking them to be erased and resold.
According to details from the post, the phone technician suspected foul play and reported him.
This led to the involvement of a woman who unknowingly facilitated his access to the church.
The woman, recounting her encounter with the suspect, revealed how they met:
“I went to buy something, and when I entered, he looked at me and started following me. When I asked why, he said he had just arrived in Lagos and wanted to worship at my church.”
She further disclosed that the young man had confided in her about his past:
“He told me he had stolen before. He went to his friends’ house, stole phones and a charging cord, but was caught and disgraced. That’s why he fled to Lagos.”
