A man, identified as Obinna Nwigwe, has been arrested by men of the FCT Police Command, for shooting his friend in Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, on Tuesday.
She stated that the 33 year old man had shot his friend Andrew Philemon, during a heated argument at Najob Guest House in Bwari.
Adeh described the crime which occured on the 26th of December 2024, as disturbing and violent.
The statement further revealed that the police had responded to a distress call about gunfire. Upon arriving at the scene, they found 29-year-old Philemon critically injured from a gunshot wound. Nwigwe, armed with a pump-action rifle, claimed the shooting was in self-defence after the argument escalated.
“Police officers swiftly responded to the distress call and arrested Obinna Nwigwe at the scene. A search of his residence later revealed a shocking cache of weapons,” Adeh added.
