Maguire: Manchester United players, not Ten Hag, to blame for poor form

Harry Maguire believes Manchester United players must take responsibility for their recent poor performances, rather than manager Erik ten Hag.

United have had a rough start to the season, with just three wins in nine games, and Ten Hag faces mounting pressure ahead of Sunday’s clash with Aston Villa.

Despite surrendering a two-goal lead in a 3-3 draw with FC Porto in the Europa League, Maguire insists that the blame lies with the players.

“It’s easy to look around and blame others, but we’re the ones on the pitch, and we have to take responsibility,” said the defender.

Maguire is confident that a victory at Villa Park, where United won last season, could spark a turnaround.

“We need to find belief within ourselves and start doing something about it, starting Sunday,” he added.

The 31-year-old defender recently made headlines after scoring a stoppage-time equalizer against Porto, despite being left out of England’s squad.

Maguire expressed surprise at the decision but remains hopeful about his future with the national team.

Ten Hag’s job could be on the line if United fails to secure a result against Aston Villa, with speculation growing over his future at Old Trafford.
