Luka Modric rejects two big-money offers to extend Real Madrid stay

Luka Modric will remain at Real Madrid for another season after agreeing to a new one-year contract with the Spanish side.

Despite being a substitute for most of the 2023-24 campaign, the 38-year-old Croatian midfielder has turned down two lucrative offers to continue with the Spanish giants.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news, revealing that Modric will meet with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez next week to finalize the deal.

Modric’s decision to stay comes as teammate Toni Kroos is set to retire following the recent Champions League victory over Borussia Dortmund.

Modric’s experience and leadership are expected to be invaluable to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, even as a squad player.

Despite limited starts, Modric is said to have demonstrated enduring quality last season, making significant contributions when called upon.

After finalizing his contract extension, Modric is expected to join the Croatian national team for the upcoming European tournament.
