Liverpool submit formal €35M bid for Valencia goalkeeper Mamardashvili
Liverpool have made a formal €35 million offer for Valencia’s star goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, marking their first major move of the summer.
The 23-year-old Georgian international has been linked with a move away from Valencia throughout the summer, having previously turned down an approach from Saudi Arabia in favour of joining a top European club.
Mamardashvili is reportedly keen on a switch to Liverpool, although the Reds plan to loan him out to another Premier League club for one to two years, with Alisson Becker remaining their first-choice goalkeeper.
The proposed deal would see Mamardashvili earning a net salary of €4 million per year.
Valencia’s owner, Peter Lim, who has been seeking a transfer fee between €35-40 million for Mamardashvili, will now decide whether to accept Liverpool’s offer.
The deal appears to be moving forward, with football journalist Fabrizio Romano suggesting that negotiations are progressing well.
Mamardashvili, known for his shot-stopping abilities, has been instrumental in Valencia’s defensive stability over the past two seasons, particularly in their fight against relegation.
His impressive performances continued at Euro 2024, where he stood out for Georgia.
