Leverkusen delighted with Victor Boniface’s injury progress, schedules his return for April
Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga title ambitions have received a boost with the news of Victor Boniface’s injury progress.
The Nigerian forward, who has been sidelined since January due to an adductor injury, is reportedly “on schedule” in his recovery.
The development was revealed by the club’s sporting director, Simon Rolfes, reports Football Italia.
Rofles stated that the 23-year-old has since resumed light running duties and could be in contention for a return to action in April.
Boniface’s return is particularly important as he is Leverkusen’s leading scorer this season with 16 goals and eight assists in 23 games.
His absence was keenly felt, especially after missing out on the Africa Cup of Nations for Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
Leverkusen will be hopeful to reintegrate Boniface into the squad as they continue their Bundesliga campaign, where they are in contention for the title.
