Leicester target Graham Potter for managerial role after Maresca’s departure

Leicester City are reportedly making move to appoint Graham Potter as their new manager after the departure of Enzo Maresca to Chelsea.

Potter, who has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in April 2023, is being pursued to replace Maresca after serving just one season with the Foxes.

TalkSPORT reports that the club’s director Jon Rudkin is keen on securing Potter’s services, having already engaged in discussions with his long-time agent, John Morris.

Despite these talks, there are concerns over whether Leicester can afford to bring Potter to the King Power Stadium this summer.

Potter, 49, has been linked with several high-profile roles, including the Manchester United job, where he could reunite with incoming sporting director Dan Ashworth, his former colleague at Brighton.

Recall Potter also turned down an offer from Dutch giants Ajax.

However, Leicester’s return to the Premier League after winning the Championship under Maresca presents an attractive opportunity for Potter.

The club are said to have also had preliminary discussions with former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper as part of their search.

Additionally, Leicester announced that club legend Jamie Vardy has signed a new one-year contract.

However, they are saying goodbye to three senior players: Marc Albrighton, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Dennis Praet.
