Leicester 1-2 Chelsea: Blues narrow gap to City with comfortable win
Enzo Maresca marked his return to Leicester with a vital win as Chelsea edged past the struggling Foxes.
The win ensures the Blues move just one point behind Manchester City in the Premier League standings.
Despite a performance hampered by fatigue from international duty, Chelsea secured all three points thanks to goals from Nicolas Jackson and captain Enzo Fernandez.
Jackson snatched the opener in the 15th minute with tough tackle that won him the ball in Leicester’s box.
Fernandez sealed the win with a second-half strike, just days after returning from Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers.
However, Leicester pulled a consolation goal through substitute Jordan Ayew, in the added time, which was not enough to turn the game around.
Chelsea dominated possession but struggled to find more clear chances, and squandered a few created.
While the defeat leaves Leicester 16th in the league table, Chelsea are now just a point behind Manchester City, occupying third place.
