Lamine Yamal emerges global best young talent, wins 2024 Golden Boy award
Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal has added a new accolade to his rising career on Wednesday, clinching the 2024 Golden Boy award.
Yamal, 17, is the youngest-ever recipient of the prestigious Golden Boy award for the best under-21 male player globally.
Yamal becomes the third Barcelona player in four years to win the award, following Pedri and Gavi.
The teenager has already amassed a collection of awards, including the Kopa Trophy at this year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.
His breakout year saw him play a key role in Spain’s European Championship triumph and contribute significantly to Barça’s rebuild under Hansi Flick.
In Euro tournament, Yamal was named Young Player of the Tournament and earned a spot in the Team of the Tournament.
His semifinal strike against France was crowned Goal of the Tournament.
At Barcelona, he continues to break age-related records for goals, assists, and appearances.
Despite missing recent games due to an ankle injury, coach Flick remains optimistic about his return against Las Palmas.
