Lady’s virtual job interview turns disastrous due to phone glitches.

However, she received a call from a company staff member at 1:49 PM, requesting her to join the Zoom meeting earlier than planned.

Feeling confident and prepared, she agreed—only for her phone, which had been functioning perfectly, to start malfunctioning at the worst possible time.

She detailed how the device became unresponsive, making it difficult to open her email and access the Zoom link.

Even after successfully opening the link, the phone continued hanging, forcing the interviewer to suggest switching to WhatsApp.

Unfortunately, she encountered another issue when the app failed to recognize the interviewer’s number.

Every alternative suggested by the interviewer was equally unsuccessful due to her phone’s inexplicable glitches.

Even attempts to use WhatsApp calls proved futile, as the interviewers couldn’t hear her clearly.

This technical fiasco left her distressed and near tears, particularly as she had been confident about acing the interview.

despite the setbacks, she later discovered that the company had rescheduled the interview as a physical meeting, offering her another chance to prove herself.

Here is her full statement:

“I had a virtual interview today and I’m still cringing from embarrassment and shame. It was a zoom interview and I was ready to go. Or so I thought..”

“It was scheduled for 2pm and the interviewer called me by 1:49 to ask if I could please join the meeting, I said sure. I’d done my homework on the company and their products so I didn’t mind.”

“I went to open my email and my phone started hanging. Problem. Serious hanging, my email wasn’t opening and when it did, I couldn’t click on their mail inviting me for the interview.”

“I wanted to cry. I thought for sure, my enemies were after me. I was able to open the mail around 2:00pm and I clicked on the zoom link, my phone was still hanging. Atp, I was almost in tears because I thought I had this job in the bag before this whole drama.”

“The interview kept calling my line to know what the problem was. Then she suggested we use WhatsApp. I said sure. I put her number on my WhatsApp and it was telling me to “invite to Whatsapp”. She already told me that was her Whatsapp number.”

“My phone kept hanging and hanging. It was too late to restart my phone cus I knew it’d take like 5 mins or more to restart. She called again and offered to send me a WhatsApp message instead. I wanted to throw my phone against the wall but I knew I won’t get a replacement.”

“She sent me a WhatsApp message and we proceeded to Whatsapp calls. She added the MD of the company and the senior HR person. They couldn’t hear me at all. I could hear them but my own line was breaking.”

“By now, I was so destabilized. When they asked “tell me about yourself” I was stammering. This is question I can answer in my sleep o. I couldn’t speak English again. Ei god. They sha still said they couldn’t hear me. Then the senior HR said I could leave the call.”

“I wanted to leave the call but I couldn’t. I pressed the end icon, nothing. My phone was hanging. The woman kept telling me to leave the call but I couldn’t. Oh chim. I tried to turn off my data, nothing, tried to put on airplane mode, lailai. My phone refused.”

“The woman said Joy, leave the call oooo” I was so embarrassed. They did say they’d get back to me, because they couldn’t hear me. And in the end, I had to turn off my phone to leave the call. I just sat for a few minutes marinating in my mortification.”

“Funny thing is, before the interview, I thought it’d go so well. It was a restaurant and that’s my turf. I didn’t know my phone had something else planned for me. After the call, I texted the interviewer an apology and I’m just hoping they reschedule.”

“Guys, after I saw several comments saying I should send an apology mail instead and asked for a reschedule, I decided to do that. I crafted a message and was about to hit send when I received a mail from the interviewer. They RESCHEDULED.”

“They rescheduled since after our call and I didn’t even know. Mind you, I check my mails as often as humanly possible. My Gmail was hanging so bad, I couldn’t even scroll up, down and that’s how I missed their mail. I saw it hours later. Now I have a physical interview with them.”

“You guysssss, thank you so much. I didn’t think I was going to get this much support. You guys are amazing for real. Thank you so much. I will do my best in the interview, for you guys and for myself.”
