Lady quits bank job after two weeks, to focus on small business and TikTok

A 22-year-old Nigerian lady has sparked conversations after announcing her resignation from a bank job just two weeks after starting.
Sharon, who hails from Anambra but resides in Lagos, disclosed her decision in a TikTok post, where she hinted at dissatisfaction with her work environment.
While she did not reveal the bank’s name, she described her position as a marketing role under a contract, stating that her employers were inconsiderate.
“I don’t know why I thought I could last a whole year when this was me on the first day. 😂 The signs were all there for me to focus on what really matters. Story time coming soon—9-5 is not for everyone, and I am certainly one of them,” she captioned her video.
In the comment section, Sharon elaborated on her reasons for leaving, revealing that she was required to spend part of her already insufficient salary on transportation to source for customers.
“Yes dear, and they wanted me to sacrifice part of my peanut salary for transport fare to go and look for customers,” she responded to a follower.
She further disclosed that her work schedule was demanding, with shifts running from 9 AM to 6 PM, including two Saturdays a month.
“By God’s grace, the bank is my last 9-5 experience,” she added.
Sharon, an only child, stated that she left the job to focus on growing her TikTok community and building her small jewelry business.
“I own a small (compared to yours lol) jewelry business🥹. I quit to focus on that fully and grow my TikTok community,” she shared.
Her decision has sparked discussions online, with many resonating with her frustration over corporate work culture, particularly in the banking sector.
