LA LIGA: Getafe manager clarifies claims about Greenwood-Bellingham connection
Getafe’s manager Jose Bordalas has withdrawn a statement he made about Mason Greenwood transfer being influenced by Jude Bellingham.
Bordalas in an earlier statement hinted that Greenwood’s transfer to the club was influenced by Jude Bellingham.
He claimed that the English winger joined Getafe on loan after a conversation with Bellingham, stating that the two were friends.
In the interview with RadioMarca, the manager expressed his excitement about securing a player of Greenwood’s caliber and mentioned the alleged connection with Bellingham:
“Greenwood is friends with Bellingham, and he advised him to come to the Spanish league.”
However, following Greenwood’s debut for Getafe, during which he played a role in their 3-2 victory over Osasuna, Bordalas backtracked on his earlier remarks.
He admitted that his previous statements were incorrect, stating, “I had said that Mason Greenwood came to Getafe because he had spoken with Jude Bellingham. They have clarified to me that it was not the case.”
Meanwhile, the clarification comes in a bid to put an end to the ongoing discussions that Bellingham played a direct role in Greenwood’s transfer to the Spanish club.
