Kidnappers of 3 UNICAL students demand for N14m ransom
The gunmen who kidnapped three students from the University of Calabar, UNICAL last week Thursday is asking for a ransom of N14 million in exchange for the release of two of the students.
According to a source, the kidnappers are asking for N6 million to release Damilola Dickson and N8 million for Ugwu Chukwuemeka, who are both students in the genetics and biotechnology department.
While the exact amount demanded for Ojang Precious Ebejin, the 200-level student of medicine and surgery, couldn’t be confirmed by the source at the school, they did mention that it was also in the millions.
The source said, “They (the kidnappers) are communicating with the parents of the students. I don’t know for certain the amount they want for the third student, but it’s also millions of naira.”
It was reported earlier that the kidnappers stormed the school’s hostel and fired shots into the air, taking three students from their hostel and escaping through a river.
