Katsina: Police repel bandits’ attack, kill 7

The Katsina State Police Command has neutralized seven bandits who attempted an attack on Ruwan Doruwa village in the Dutsinma Local Government Area of the state.

According to reports, the police recovered 61 cows, 44 sheep, 2 donkeys, 1 goat, and 1 dog during the operation. According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the bandits carried out the failed attack on Saturday.

“On January 18th, 2025, at about 0900 hrs, a distress call was received at the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters that some suspected armed bandits, armed with dangerous weapons such as AK-47 rifles, sporadically attacked Ruwan Doruwa village, Dutsinma LGA, Katsina State.

“Upon receipt of the report, swiftly, the DPO, in collaboration with the military, DSS, members of the KTSCWC, and the vigilante, mobilized and responded to the scene.

“Upon arrival, the team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, which resulted in the neutralization of seven (7) suspected armed bandits as the remaining fled the scene with various degrees of injuries, abandoning all the suspected rustled animals,” it read.

The State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, praised the operatives for their outstanding gallantry, courage, and professionalism.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of the public and ensuring their security.

The Commissioner also urged residents to support the Command by providing timely and valuable information to aid in the ongoing fight against crime and criminal activities in the state.
