Kaduna generates N14.16 billion IGR in first two months of 2025
The Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) has announced that it generated N14.16 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in January and February 2025, countering claims of a revenue decline under Governor Uba Sani’s administration.
In a statement on Friday, KADIRS’ Head of Corporate Communications, Zakari Muhammad, revealed that:
- N7.47 billion was collected in January 2025.
- N6.69 billion was recorded in February 2025.
These figures, according to Muhammad, demonstrate the state’s commitment to efficient revenue collection and financial management.
Muhammad further noted that Kaduna has made significant strides in revenue generation over the past two years.
- In 2023, the state generated N62.48 billion.
- In 2024, revenue increased to N71 billion, securing Kaduna’s position as the top IGR-generating state in Northern Nigeria.
The state government remains focused on enhancing revenue streams through improved tax administration and digital innovations.
Clarification on former chairman’s exit
Muhammad also addressed rumors surrounding the exit of the former KADIRS Executive Chairman, stating that:
- The former chairman completed his four-year tenure, as stipulated by the Kaduna State Tax Codification and Consolidation Law.
- His replacement was duly appointed by Governor Uba Sani, following standard procedures.
He dismissed claims that the former chairman was removed for allegedly calling out the Kaduna State House of Assembly Speaker over tax evasion, describing such reports as baseless.
Denial of N100 million payment allegations
Muhammad further refuted allegations that KADIRS facilitated a N100 million payment to any individual or organization, clarifying that the agency has never received such instructions.
He reaffirmed that KADIRS remains an autonomous body, committed to its mandate of revenue mobilization with professionalism and integrity.
