Juventus held to goalless draw by Genoa as Vlahovic sees red
Juventus were held to a 0-0 draw by Genoa, with frustration boiling over for Dusan Vlahovic as he was sent off for dissent.
Despite hitting the woodwork twice through Samuel Iling-Junior and Moise Kean, Juventus failed to find the breakthrough against a strong Genoa side.
Vlahovic’s return from suspension was marred by his late dismissal.
The Bianconeri were missing key players due to injury and suspension, including Adrien Rabiot and Arkadiusz Milik.
Genoa also had their own absences, with Stefano Sabelli serving a suspension.
The match saw few clear-cut chances, with Wojciech Szczesny forced into action early on to deny a header from Mattia Bani.
Federico Chiesa had penalty appeals waved away, while Genoa’s Federico Gatti threatened with a couple of efforts.
Juventus came close to scoring when Iling-Junior’s strike rattled the post, and Vlahovic also hit the woodwork with a header.
However, their luck deserted them again in the dying minutes when Kean’s shot struck the bar.
The frustration reached its peak for Vlahovic in stoppage time, as he was booked for dissent after a foul on the goalkeeper.
Continuing his protests led to a second yellow card and subsequent red, leaving Juventus down to 10 men and Vlahovic suspended for the next match against Lazio.
