JUST IN: Lagos Govt. Orders Indefinite Closure Of Dowen College Amid Heightened Tension
The Lagos State Government has ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College in a bid to get to the root of the incident that killed one of its students, Sylvester Oromoni.
A statement signed by the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, of the Lagos State Ministry of Education read:
“The Lagos State Government has ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College, Lekki, pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, a student of the school.
Commissioner for Education Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo announced the closure after a meeting with the School Management and Staff.
“The Commissioner called for calm, saying no effort will be spared in getting to the root of the incident.”
The indefinite shutting of the school by the state government comes a few hours after the school management, in a letter directed to parents notified on a planned shutting of the school for three days owing to the tension surrounding Sylvester Oromoni’s death.
Meanwhile, the death of the a 12-year-old student who was allegedly beaten to death by his peers over refusal to join a cult group has continued on discussions around the country.
