“It’s Pep’s fault” – Rooney blames Guardiola for England’s woes at Euro 2024

Former Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney has pointed fingers at Pep Guardiola for England’s goalscoring drought at Euro 2024.

Currently serving as a pundit for BBC Sport, Rooney has offered an unconventional critique of the Manchester City manager’s influence on the national team.

Despite finishing top of Group C, England managed only five points and scored just two goals so far in Germany.

The squad’s lackluster performance has been a major topic in Rooney’s analysis.

“I think the game’s got a lot more positional, with teams trying to score a perfect goal.

“I think it’s Pep’s fault! He brought that in. He’s mastered it, but everyone else seems to struggle to create clear chances.”

However, Rooney’s claim is clearly the opposite when Guardiola was managing Barcelona in Spain.

During his reign at the Spanish club, Spain recorded several successes, securing three major trophies.

England prepare to face Slovakia in the last 16 on Sunday, handing them another opportunity to deal with their current form, and advance to the tournament’s quarter-final.
