Israel-Palestine War: Pastor Adeboye lambasted over support for Israel
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye comes under fire over his prayer to Israel in its ongoing war with Palestine.
It is worth noting that Israel declared war on the Gaza Strip after an unprecedented attack by the armed Palestinian group Hamas on Saturday.
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has since claimed thousands of lives and displaced many since it started five days ago.
Amidst the conflict, Pastor Adeboye took to the micro-blogging platform, X, to extend his prayer to the Jewish-dominated country in their trying times.
“It is my prayer for all our brethren in Israel that the Almighty will grant you absolute peace from now on in Jesus name. #Israel #peace,” he wrote.
However, the clergyman’s support for the Jews struck many Nigerians who condemned Pastor Adeboye for not gesturing the same when conflicts happen in Nigeria.
Reactions trailing prayer of Pastor Adeboye to Israel amidst war with Palestine
laurentdarl opined: “What about your beloved brothers in Palestine? These are the sentiments, less-intelligent Christians run with and make dull decisions.”
Iamkingsleyf stated: “Oga, your brethrens in Israel are less than 5%… The country itself is JUDAISM and they don’t like your kind. When will dumb africans have sense?”
EmperorKaas penned: “Your prayer never work for Nigeria ! You Dey send am go Israel. This man 🤦♂️.”
MohammedDBuhari added: “Am ashamed for this man. Imagine you praying for Isreal what about the Palestines in Gaza? Do you actually realize that you also have Christians as Palestines.
Palestine is not an Islamic country. I believe as a religious leader you should speak to both sides for peace and not be biased. Women and children are being killed in both Isreal and Palestine are they not humans that you should pray for them both? I hate talking about religion and religious leaders but it’s time we start advising them publicly if they do not have proper advisers.”
