Irish man condemns Nigerian man’s reunion with his 7 children in Dublin
An Irish man laments the influx of Nigerians to his country following a viral video of a Nigerian man who moved his 7 children to join him in Dublin, Ireland.
This came following a viral vlog by a Nigerian lady who documented her journey from Nigeria to Ireland with her six siblings.
In the video, the lady and her siblings arrived in the European country on a family visa to join their father who had been abroad for years.
Addressing the viral video on X, the Irish man, Michael OKeeffe lamented the unsustainable wave of relocation to his country through asylum and other routes.
“Nigerian man comes to Ireland and applies for asylum, then he gets approved for family reunification and brings his wife and 7 children to Ireland. We are being overrun. This is simply not sustainable,” he captioned the video.
He further shared a statistic showing the number of Nigerians claiming asylum in Ireland while a fresh new batch were recently approved.
He added, “There are currently 6,295 Nigerians claiming asylum in Ireland. Last month 173 requests for family reunification were submitted.”
The post has since sparked mixed feelings from fellow countrymen who suggested deportation over concern of the exponential growth of Nigerian communities in their country.
