Iheanacho racing against time for La Liga season opener
Kelechi Iheanacho is hopeful to regain full fitness ahead of the 2024/25 La Liga season.
Recall the Nigerian international recently joined Sevilla on a two-year contract after leaving Leicester City when his contract expired in June.
Despite being inactive over the summer, Iheanacho is set to start pre-season training with his new club.
The 27-year-old forward admitted he is not yet at peak fitness but has been working with a personal coach to bridge the gap.
“I have had the chance to do personal training with a coach. That helps my fitness as well.
“I’m not far off from where they are 100%, so I’m not far off. Hopefully, I’ll join them soon and then build the rest of my fitness with them.
“Hopefully, I’ll be ready to play the first game,” Iheanacho said in an interview on Sevilla’s official website.
Sevilla are set to face Las Palmas in their opening fixture of the new season, and Iheanacho is optimistic about being match-ready before then.
