IGP, Usman Baba suspends Abba Kyari over alleged Hushpuppi multimillion-dollar fraud
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba has recently called for the suspension of the deputy commissioner of police, Abba Kyari over his alleged involvement in a $1.1 million illicit deal with Ramoni Abass, popularly known as Hushpuppi.
Usman Baba revealed this on the 31st of July 2021 in a letter. Speaking further, Frank Mba; the Nigerian police spokesman, hinted more on this on Sunday, 1st August where he said:
“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, psc (+), NPM, fdc has recommended the immediate suspension of DCP Abba Kyari, the Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), from the Service of the Nigeria Police Force, pending the outcome of an ongoing internal investigations touching on him.”
It was further disclosed that the suspension is meant to last pending the outcome of the case.
Justifying the need for the suspension, Mr Mba noted that this will help the NPF Special Investigation Panel conduct thorough scrutiny on Abba Kyari’s alleged involvement in the international fraud.
