Igor Tudor marks Lazio debut with win over Juventus
Igor Tudor kick-started his Lazio job with a dramatic stoppage-time win over Juventus, with Adam Marusic scoring the decisive goal.
Tudor, taking charge after Maurizio Sarri’s resignation, introduced a revamped three-man defence for Lazio’s clash against Juventus.
Meanwhile, Max Allegri, Juventus boss, marked his 500th Serie A match by deploying a 4-3-3 formation for the Bianconeri, who were without several key players due to injuries and suspensions.
The match saw both teams create chances, with Taty Castellanos and Felipe Anderson threatening for Lazio.
Juventus also pushed for goal a couple of times, with Federico Chiesa testing Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas.
In the second half, Juventus continued to press for a breakthrough, with Andrea Cambiaso coming close to scoring.
However, Lazio defense line remained strong, to the frustration their opponents.
As the match appeared to be heading towards a stalemate, Lazio stunned Juventus with a last-gasp winner.
Substitute Matteo Guendouzi delivered a pinpoint cross to the back post, where Marusic rose above the Juventus defense to head home the winning goal, raising the roof at the Stadio Olimpico.
The victory for Lazio not only marked Tudor’s successful debut but also compounded Juventus’ woes, as they now have just one win in their last nine Serie A matches.
