‘I’d rather play a 63-year-old coach’ – Ruben Amorim slams Marcus Rashford
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has delivered a brutal assessment of Marcus Rashford’s current form and attitude.
The Portuguese states that he would prefer to name his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach, Jorge Vital, as a substitute over the underperforming forward.
Rashford was once again excluded from the squad during United’s 1-0 win against Fulham, secured by Lisandro Martinez’s deflected second-half strike.
Amorim didn’t hold back when explaining Rashford’s continued absence, citing a lack of commitment in training.
“I’d put Vital on the bench before a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day. I won’t compromise on that,” Amorim said.
“It’s always about the same reason—training. If you don’t give your all in training and live the way a professional footballer should, you won’t make the squad. It’s the same for everyone.”
Rashford, who hasn’t featured since December 12 in United’s win over Viktoria Plzen, has reportedly attracted loan interest from Borussia Dortmund, Monaco, and AC Milan.
Despite these options, Rashford is believed to prefer a move to Barcelona.
