Ian Maatsen signs new Chelsea deal, set for Dortmund loan spell

Ian Maatsen has signed new Chelsea deal valid until the summer of 2027, as he prepares for loan move to Borussia Dortmund.

This was confirmed by transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano on his official X account on Tuesday.

“Ian Maatsen signs new deal at Chelsea valid until June 2027, two-year extension… and it will include a release clause.

“The clause will be valid starting from summer 2024. Maatsen will fly to Dortmund tonight to join BVB on loan, medical tomorrow as revealed,” Fabrizio added.

The 22-year-old Chelsea academy talent will spend the remainder of the season in Germany, in a deal that has not ruled out a possible permanent move.

Part of the reasons for his loan, includes the recall of Andrey Santos who made a loan move to Nottingham Forest earlier this season.
