I trust you to deliver – Pochettino boosts Chelsea players morale ahead of Aston Villa clash
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has rallied his struggling team ahead of their FA Cup replay against Aston Villa
Following a series of disappointing performances, Pochettino during a press conference, said he has spoken with his players about their performances.
“I told the players today in a meeting that I trust you more than ever. I’m going to support you more than ever.
“I am not a normal boss, I am the leader, and I need to reflect with every single action that I really trust the players,” the Argentine manager said.
Acknowledging his responsibility for the team’s performance, Pochettino stated, “If they don’t perform, it is my responsibility and the players’ responsibility always because they are on the pitch.
“I trust we can turn the situation around and change the results.
“We are a team who needs confidence. That is why we are demanding support for the team because we know the players have amazing quality. The problem is it takes time to build a team,” Pochettino added.
Chelsea’s recent defeats, including a 4-1 loss to Liverpool and a 4-2 defeat at home to Wolves, have placed them in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Despite the setbacks, Pochettino received a supportive text from Chelsea owners Behdad Eghbali and Todd Boehly, reassuring him of their support.
