“I earn N4.2m, paid tax of N1.4m monthly” – Canada-based lady cries out over high tax deductions in the country
A Canada-based lady, identified as @foya2005 on TikTok, has shared her frustration over the substantial tax deductions from her monthly income.
In a post, the lady disclosed that out of her monthly earnings of 6,200 CAD (approximately N4.2 million), only 4,100 CAD made its way into her pocket after a sizable 2,100 CAD (equivalent to N1.4 million) was deducted as taxes.
Expressing her discontent, @foya2005 captioned her video.
She wrote;
“Realizing I made 6,200 a month but only took home 4,100 because of taxes. Yes, that is the life we live here, paying taxes that we don’t even know where they go.”
The post has since garnered attention, with many users sympathizing with her situation and questioning the fairness of the tax system.
In response to inquiries about her occupation, @foya2005 revealed that she considers herself underemployed and underpaid given her qualifications and skills.
“Believe me, I’m under-employed and underpaid for my skills and education,” the lady said.
