“I can win it” – Palmer makes Ballon d’Or claims, explains ‘cold’ celebration

Chelsea forward Cole Palmer has shed light on his now-famous “cold” goal celebration, attributing it to his love for football and a nod to his roots.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Palmer explained that the celebration reflects his “joy, passion, and hard determination” for the game.

Palmer, who has netted six goals in seven Premier League appearances this season, said the celebration started last December in a match against Luton.

“It’s a nod to my former City academy teammate Morgan Rogers,” Palmer shared. “It symbolises joy and passion, and people know it’s my celebration.”

Palmer’s form has earned him significant recognition, including being named England Men’s Player of the Year by the Football Association and winning the Premier League Player of the Month for September.

While Palmer remains focused on his performances, he was also included in the 30-man Ballon d’Or shortlist, a surprise that he hopes marks just the beginning of his career accolades.

“If I work hard, I believe I can win it one day.

“It’s a surprise to be recognised at this level so early in my career, being in the Ballon d’Or list already. It’s a great honour.”
