“How I disguised as woman to escape being indoctrinated into Boko Haram” – Father DMW
Popular comedian and content creator Muhammadu Bashir Abdulai, alias Father DMW has shared how he ran from his hometown, Maiduguri to Lagos to escape being forced into the Boko Haram terrorist group.
He said that the group went on a recruiting spree, grabbing and forcing youths into their groups and arming them to fight. He escaped being indoctrinated by disguising himself as a woman by covering himself in hijab.
The content creator made this known while in an interview with media outlet, Vanzu TV.
Father DMW explained that the sect were killing off men who refused to join them, and he had to run away to Lagos.
When he got to Lagos state, he began fending for himself by becoming a bike rider.
However, he got his big break through Afrobeats singer, Davido for whom he ran errands, and who was responsible for bringing him to limelight.
Speaking in pidgin, Father DMW recounted…
“Boko Haram dem go and kill everybody. Like me, if dem see me, they just give me gun, if I never follow them, they will now start to kill me.
“When they entered, I wear hijab like woman. Do make up, put breasts, y*nsh, everything to escape. Because if they know say you be man, if dem commot that hijab, no be shoot dem go shoot you o, na knife dem go cut you.”
