Hotel guest shot dead in Ogun
A hotel guest, identified as Gideon Ebukwe, has been shot dead by yet to be identified gunmen in Sagamu Local Government area of Ogun state.
This was confirmed in a statement by the Ogun State Police Command.
The police public relations officer Omolola Odutola who confirmed the incident, stated that the victim was lodged at one Ok Winners Hotel, Igbosoro, Igode before the unfortunate incident.
She noted that Ebukwe was shot dead while trying to escape when he came under attack by gunmen who stormed the hotel where he lodged as a guest.
It was gathered that Ebukwe broke into the ceiling of the hotel to escape from the assailants, but was caught, shot dead and his belongings, taken away.
She disclosed that the incident had been reported around 3.30 p.m., by the CDC Chairman, Atobatele Igbosoro.
“He said that a group of five unidentified armed men arrived at Ok Winners Hotel in Igbosoro, and attacked a guest, Gideon Ebukwe, whose address was currently unknown.Â
“At the time of the attack, the hotel staff, mostly women, were locked in another room, while the assailants proceeded directly to the guest’s room.
“In an attempt to escape, the guest broke through the ceiling but was chased and shot dead, and his belongings were taken.
“Upon receiving the information, the divisional police officer led detectives to the scene. No arrest has been made, and the body was transported to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo,” she stated.
