Harry Kane talks about equaling Robert Lewandowski’s Bundesliga goalscoring record
Harry Kane is on a mission to chase down Robert Lewandowski’s Bundesliga goalscoring record, less than eight months of joining the side.
The English forward notched his 24th goal for Bayern Munich in their comeback win against Borussia Mönchengladbach over the weekend.
Bayern’s victory keeps them within two points of Bayer Leverkusen at the top
of the league table.
With 14 games remaining, Kane is just 17 goals away from matching Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a single Bundesliga season.
Reflecting on his performance so far, Kane told the PA news agency, “I always believed in myself and I had scored goals every year in the Premier League, and that’s what I wanted to do in the Bundesliga.”
While Kane didn’t initially expect to score as many goals as he has now, he remains focused on the present, emphasizing that records are a result of hard work.
“My focus is on the short term, and then as we get closer and we get towards the end of the season… it will be something I would love to achieve,” he said.
Lewandowski set the current record in the 2020/21 season, surpassing Gerd Müller’s longstanding record of 40 Bundesliga goals in a single campaign.
