Haaland avoids punishment for ball throw at Gabriel in Arsenal clash

Erling Haaland will not face any disciplinary action after throwing the ball at Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães during Manchester City’s 2-2 draw against the Gunners.

The incident occurred after John Stones’ stoppage-time equalizer at the Etihad Stadium, with cameras catching Haaland throwing the ball against Gabriel’s head.

Although the on-field referee missed the incident, it was reviewed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) who determined that it did not constitute violent conduct.

As a result, Haaland will not be sanctioned further.

The game saw tensions rise after Leandro Trossard’s red card left Arsenal with 10 men, and City players were frustrated by what they perceived as time-wasting tactics from their opponents.

After the final whistle, Haaland had heated exchanges with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and striker Gabriel Jesus, calling the latter a “clown” twice.

Despite the tensions, the FA is satisfied that the incident was handled appropriately at the time, allowing Haaland to avoid punishment.
