Gunmen attack Plateau community, kills 17 including couple and their children

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani militias unleashed a brutal attack in Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, resulting in the tragic loss of 17 lives.

The horrifying event unfolded in the early hours of Thursday, August 10, 2023, leaving the once-peaceful community grappling with grief and fear.

Julius Pam, a resident of Heipang, bravely recounted the harrowing events to Punch reporters in Jos. He confirmed that the assailants, believed to be Fulani militias, stormed the community, leaving a trail of destruction and heartbreak in their wake.

Among the victims were Julius Pam’s own family members – his brother, sister-in-law, and their children – a chilling testament to the indiscriminate nature of the attack.

Authorities were swift to respond to the distressing situation. Sources from the command headquarters reported that security operatives had been promptly dispatched to the Heipang community to restore order and prevent further loss of life.
