Groom uses bride price money to gamble on wedding day
A Nigerian man has sparked shock online after revealing how his friend, a groom, visited a bet shop on his wedding day to gamble with the money meant for the bride price.
In a viral post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the man narrated that his friend, who was supposed to be at his traditional wedding, instead stormed a Bet9ja shop and used the bride price money to play virtual bets while the bride waited.
He wrote: “My friend didn’t show up early for his traditional wedding. My bro went to a Bet9ja shop to play virtual with the money he was supposed to pay as bride price. He started calling us all about what he did.”
The incident reportedly occurred on the same day the friend was getting married.
After losing the money, the groom reached out to his friends for assistance.
