Gov Aliyu reveals ₦526 billion budget for 2025

Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu has presented a ₦526,882,142,484.39 budget to the state House of Assembly for the 2025 fiscal year.

Titled the “Transformational and Infrastructural Budget,” Governor Aliyu explained that the proposal focuses on addressing key areas aligned with his administration’s nine priorities.

He reaffirmed his commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy and ensuring good governance for the people of Sokoto State.

The budget sums up to Five hundred and twenty-six billion, eight hundred and eighty-two million, one hundred and forty-two thousand, four hundred eighty-four Naira and thirty-nine Kobo (₦526,882,142,484.39) and aims to promote continued growth, transformation, and prosperity in the state.

“This budget will address key issues outlined in the nine priority areas of our administration: Security, Religious Affairs, Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, Water Supply, Empowerment, Economy, and Local Government Autonomy,” Governor Aliyu said.

The budget breakdown reveals that capital expenditure amounted to ₦349,386,540,354.25, while recurrent expenditure totaled ₦176,295,602,130.14.

Addressing the state’s security challenges, the governor disclosed that over 130 patrol vehicles were purchased and distributed to security agencies to combat banditry.

He further noted that the state government established the Community Guard Corps, equipping them with 40 patrol vehicles, 700 motorcycles, and office spaces at both state and local government levels.

“We have approved a minimum wage of ₦70,000 for the vibrant workforce of our state.

We have also introduced monthly cash allocation to 87 Juma’at Mosques, amounting to ₦32,000,000 monthly.

“We also gave food and cash assistance to the Imams, Deputy Imams and Muazzins as well as Malaman Zaure and grassroots preachers across the states.
