Georgina Rodriguez slams Fernando Santos after starting Cristiano Ronaldo from bench against Morocco
Georgina Rodriguez has taken a salty dig at Portugal’s coach, Fernando Santos, after her partner Cristiano Ronaldo was started from the bench in the quarterfinal match against Morocco, which they lost.
Santos controversially dropped Ronaldo for Portugal’s last-16 match against Switzerland and replaced him with Goncalo Ramos, who scored a sensational hat-trick. Ronaldo also started from the bench in the quarterfinal match against Morocco, but he was unable to impact the game.
Shortly after the match ended, 37-year-old Ronaldo was seen crying as he walked down the tunnel.
Reacting to the match result, Georgina Rodriguez slammed Fernando Santos, stating that he made a “wrong” decision starting her partner from the bench.
She wrote;
“Today your friend and coach decided wrong. That friend for whom you have so many words of admiration and respect.
“The same one who, by getting you into the game, saw how everything changed, but it was too late.
“You cannot underestimate the best player in the world, his most powerful weapon. Nor can you stick up for someone who doesn’t deserve it. Life teaches us lessons. Today we have not lost, we have learned.”
This is the last World Cup Cristiano Ronaldo will feature in. He also has a big decision to make about his future following a big offer from a Saudi Arabian club after being sacked by Manchester United.
