Gabriel Jesus faces months out with suspected ACL injury as Arsenal eye loan options
Arsenal’s title ambitions have been dealt a major blow, with striker Gabriel Jesus potentially sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a suspected ACL injury.
The Brazilian forward, 27, had been enjoying a rich vein of form, scoring three goals in four matches before suffering the injury during Arsenal’s FA Cup clash against Manchester United.
Jesus collided with Bruno Fernandes and was stretchered off after receiving prolonged medical attention.
Reports indicate that Jesus’ injury is serious, with further specialist evaluations scheduled to confirm the full extent.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his concern, stating, “We know more now. Not looking good at all.
We need one more specialist and we will have more information this afternoon. I don’t want to confirm anything until the final report.
It is the doctor’s job. We were very worried at the time and remain so today.”
With Jesus likely out for months, Arsenal are expected to explore the January transfer market for cover.
However, their options are limited domestically, as their two Premier League loan slots are occupied by Raheem Sterling and Neto.
As a result, Arsenal may likely renew their interest in Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic.
The Serbian striker was previously linked with a move to the Emirates three years ago but opted for Juventus instead.
The Italian club is reportedly open to offers, having recently proposed Vlahovic in a swap deal to Manchester United.
