Fuel subsidy: House of Representatives ask Nigerians to be prayerful
The House of Representatives has reacted to the announcement of fuel subsidy removal by President Bola Tinubu.
The lawmakers asked Nigerians to pray for the implementation of the policy, shortly after a member of the lower chamber of the national assembly, Abdulraheem Olajide moved a motion of urgent public importance, praising President Tinubu for making the pronouncement on Monday, May 29.
Despite the scarcity of petrol that ensued after the announcement was made, Olajide said lawmakers must support Tinubu in the subsidy removal because he campaigned to do so.
He said;
“The legislature must support the President in delivering dividends of democracy, which will go a long way in enhancing development because he asked for it and campaigned for it. And he is ready for the task ahead.”
Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila prevented members from debating the motion, despite their requests to speak.
After the motion was moved, members of the House of Representatives resolved to appeal to Nigerians to remain patient, resilient, and prayerful so that the President can deliver on his promises.
