Former presidential spokesperson Doyin Okupe passes away

Doyin Okupe, a former Director-General of Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign Organisation, has passed away at the age of 72 after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Reports indicate that the former presidential spokesperson had been critically ill in recent weeks before his demise. His health had deteriorated significantly, raising concerns among his family and supporters.

In October 2023, Okupe was diagnosed with prostate cancer and was flown to Israel for treatment. However, despite medical intervention, his condition did not improve as expected.

Okupe was a seasoned politician and media strategist who served in various government roles, including as Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan. His contributions to Nigeria’s political landscape spanned several decades.
