The former Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Enema Paul, has passed away.
According to reports, the lawmaker died early Saturday morning at a private hospital in Abuja after battling an undisclosed illness.
Until his passing, Hon. Paul represented the Okura State Constituency in Kogi State’s 8th Assembly. He had previously stepped down from his role as Deputy Speaker due to health challenges and was succeeded by Hon. Comfort Ojoma Nwuchiola of the Ibaji State Constituency.
Reacting to the sad news, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, extended his condolences to the late lawmaker’s family.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed, Rt. Hon. Yusuf described Hon. Enema Paul as a humble, temperate, and dedicated legislator who prioritized teamwork and the unity of Kogi State.
The Speaker commended Paul’s commitment to promoting people-centered legislation that fostered development and growth. He also highlighted Paul’s devotion to Christianity and his exemplary family values, noting his ability to transcend religious boundaries in his service and leadership.
Rt. Hon. Yusuf concluded by praying for comfort and strength for Hon. Paul’s family, as well as for current and past members of the Assembly, as they mourn the loss of a devoted public servant.
