FCT Police give update on VeryDarkMan’s ₦180m NGO fraud allegation
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has denied any involvement in the investigation of an alleged ₦180 million fraud case linked to an NGO owned by popular social media commentator Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan (VDM).
When contacted on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, stated that the FCT Police Command has no information about the case and has not launched any investigation into it.
Adeh said, “The FCT Police Command is not aware of any case involving VDM’s missing funds and is not conducting any investigation into it.”
“The individual in question should be contacted to clarify where the matter was reported, as there is no record of such a case with the FCT Police Command.”
In a video shared on Instagram on Friday, Otse alleged that ₦180 million had been illegally transferred from the NGO’s account, leaving only ₦20 million.
“I’ve not been myself these past few days,” he said. “Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and ₦180 million is missing. Thankfully, we’ve tracked the person, and one suspect has been arrested.”
“The account is now on PND (Post No Debit). There’s ₦20 million left, while ₦160 million was diverted. We’re heading to Jos to recover the money.”
However, Otse’s claims have been met with skepticism, as some individuals have raised doubts about the credibility of his account.
