Father makes daughter sign contract as he buys her a new torchlight
A Nigerian father takes a unique approach to enforcing value in his daughter who has a record for breaking things by making her sign a contract while handing a new torchlight to her.
A Facebook user identified as Auwal Mustapha Imam has implemented a contract that requires his daughter, Nana to responsibly maintain the new torchlight he purchased for her.
The terms of the contract state that Nana must ensure the proper functioning of the torchlight for at least a year, or he will not provide her with another one.
The father explained that he used to buy a new torchlight approximately every two weeks because Nana consistently mishandled and damaged them.
He highlighted the importance of the torchlight, especially during nights when electricity was unavailable, and Nana needed it for trips to the toilet.
To instil responsibility, the father has set clear expectations through this unique contract arrangement signed by both of them.
Sharing the post, he wrote;
“I have just signed a bond/agreement with my daughter Nana and handed over a new torchlight to her. The agreement involves maintaining the torchlight for more than a year, and in the event it get spoilt in her hand before one year, I will not buy another one.
Before this time, I used to buy torchlight almost every two weeks, but she mishandled and spoiled them. She had to beg for agreement before I agreed to buy a new one. She use the torchlight at night when lights are off and she wants to go to toilet.
The signing ceremony had in attendance my wife and other witnesses. Is about responsibility. She need to be responsible!”
