Fabregas’s Como pick first Serie A point in 21 years with draw against Cagliari

Como earned their first Serie A point in over two decades with a 1-1 draw against Cagliari, thanks to a crucial goal from Patrick Cutrone.

Cesc Fabregas, managing Como, saw his side come from behind after Roberto Piccoli’s opener for the hosts.

Cagliari, who had started their season with a draw against Roma, faced a Como team dealing with several injuries, including Raphael Varane.

Cagliari initially looked to dominate, with Sebastiano Luperto assisting Piccoli’s header just before halftime, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.

However, the introduction of Maxi Perrone in the second half proved decisive for Como.

Perrone, who had only joined from Manchester City a day before, delivered a crucial pass that led to a corner from which Alberto Dossena’s nod down allowed Cutrone to equalize.

This marked Como’s first Serie A goal in 21 years.

Veteran goalkeeper Pepe Reina was instrumental in preserving the draw for Como, making several crucial saves, including one off Federico Barba and a late effort from Gianluca Lapadula.
