FA Cup: Gallagher scores late winner against Leeds to qualify Chelsea for quarter-finals
Chelsea picked a 3-2 win against Leeds United to qualify for the FA Cup quarter-finals, thanks to a late strike by Conor Gallagher.
Gallagher came off the bench to keep Chelsea’s FA Cup hopes alive, after the Blues gave up their lead just before the hour mark.
Leeds broke the deadlock early in the first, with a goal by Mateo Fernandez in the opening eight minutes.
However, Chelsea quickly responded minutes later through Nicolas Jackson, and took the lead with Mykhailo Mudryk’s effort.
In the second half, Fernandez pulled one back for the visitors, leveling the score to 2-2.
While the match already looked destined for draw at normal time, substitute Gallagher, buried a fine strike inside the opponents box in the stoppage time, to hand Chelsea the quarter-final ticket.
The win means Chelsea will face another Championship side, Leicester City, for a place in the semi-finals.
