Ex-lawmaker reveals why contesting Sanwo-Olu’s victory was a wasted effort

Former Lagos State lawmaker, Mr. Dipo Olorunrinu asserts that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu‘s victory at the Supreme Court did not come as a surprise to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

This comes following the recent judgement to uphold the victory of Sanwo-Olu by the tribunal and Appeal Court in the state.

Olorunrinu, who represented Amuwo-Odofin Constituency I in the eighth Lagos State House of Assembly, conveyed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that no member or leader of the party lost sleep over the petitions and appeals brought to the apex court.

He stated that the appeals filed by the candidates of the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the outcome of the March 18 governorship election in the state were in vain.

According to the ex-lawmaker, both GRV and Jandor may have had an ambition to rule Lagos State but the grand scheme of continuity in the state was at their disadvantage.

In his words;

“Sanwo-Olu is the people’s governor; you cannot rule that one out. His affirmation at the Supreme Court today is very inevitable and not a surprise to us. We never lost any sleep at all.

“We have been talking about continuity in Lagos state, not about a set of people agitating for their personal ambitions.

“In Lagos state,. people know their onions and what they want. They have voted for Sanwo-Olu and he won by a wide margin.

“So, there was no basis to have even contested the outcome of the election at the court by any candidate.”

“His performance has been 100 per cent. I want to congratulate Sanwo-Olu for this well-deserved victory. Let us wish him the best and support him,” he added.
