Euro 2024: Portugal secure late win over Czech Republic after Ronaldo’s point-blank miss

Portugal picked a 2-1 win against Czech Republic in a thrilling Euro 2024 encounter that sparked to life in the last half hour.

The game, held at Leipzig Stadium saw Al Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo miss at close range, after a perfect through pass from Bruno Fernandes.

At 62 minutes, Czech Republic unexpectedly took the lead. Lukas Provod delivered a stunning long-range strike, set up by a fine pass from Vladimir Coufal.

Provod’s effort soared into the far corner past Diogo Costa.

However, Czech joy was short-lived. Just seven minutes later, Portugal staged an equalizer.

Nuno Mendes headed a cross down at the far post, a straightforward task for goalkeeper Jindrich Stanek.

Yet, Stanek mishandled the ball, which ricocheted off defender Robin Hranac and into the net.

The decisive moment came deep into stoppage time. With only seconds on the pitch, young Francisco Conceicao scored the winning goal for Portugal, bringing the match to 2-1.
