Eredivisie: Louis van Gaal appointed technical advisor to Ajax Supervisory Board
Former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has been appointed as technical advisor to AFC Ajax Supervisory Board.
Van Gaal will focus on football technical matters in the new role. This move comes as a response to the vacancy created by the departure of former Supervisory Board member Jan van Halst, who opted not to return to the board after serving as interim CEO at Ajax.
Also, the decision regarding the appointments of Michael van Praag and Leo van Wijk to the Supervisory Board is set to be made during the Annual Meeting of Shareholders on November 17.
If van Praag is appointed, he will also assume the role of Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The current members of the Ajax’s Supervisory Board are Cees van Oevelen, Georgette Schlick, and Annette Mosman.
Louis van Gaal is famous for his years of managerial career with clubs like Ajax, FC Barcelona, AZ, Bayern München, and Manchester United, as well as his three terms as the coach of Netherlands national team.
Reacting to his new position, van Gaal said, “We must find our sportive way back up to the top, and we all have to contribute to that.”
