EPL: Ten Hag praises captain Fernandes for his leadership after victory against Everton
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has praised Bruno Fernandes for his leadership during their Sunday’s 3-0 win against Everton.
Alejandro Garnacho’s overhead kick, as well as goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, ensured United picked all three points in the game at Goodison Park.
In his post-match press briefing, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, Ten Hag showered praises on his captain Fernandes, bragging about his leadership qualities that have produced results for the team.
“You saw how great a captain Bruno is. He could see, feel that his team-mate needed that goal.
“He had confidence in Rashy, he told him ‘take that ball and take your confidence.’ As a team, you need that, We will always need this kind of leadership,” he added.
The game was Everton’s first since their ten-point deduction for breaching Financial Fair Play rules.
The result leaves Everton struggling in the 19th position in the Premier League table.
